Technical education, accessible from the first line.
Our mission
Innovative Futures Institute advances education in computer science, cybersecurity, operational technology, and applied engineering, and expands access to that education for learners who have been excluded from it. We build instruction that is accessible by design, deliver it through apprenticeship and partnership rather than publication alone, and measure our work by whether people get and keep the jobs.
What we do
Blind and Low Vision Notebooks
Technical lessons in computer science, cybersecurity, and embedded systems that work with a screen reader from the first release. We test with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver, offer audio and data-table alternatives to visual content, and include guidance for sighted instructors.
Technical training and education
Hands-on, scenario-based instruction in operational technology and PLC fundamentals, applied computing on low-cost hardware, drone security, cybersecurity for banks and credit unions, and agricultural technology.
Internships and pathways
Project work for students and early-career learners, open to blind and low-vision learners without a separate process.
Curriculum and accessibility review
We map existing curriculum to NICE, CAE, or state standards, and check instructional materials for real usability with assistive technology.
Regional STEM access
Instructor workshops and hands-on sessions with libraries, 4-H, and rural schools.
